【摘要】:TheproceduredescribedinthisEuropeanStandardisbasedonthestandardsettlingtechniqueasdefinedbyUtermohlin1958[31].Itdescribesageneralprocedurefortheestimationofabundanceandtaxonomiccompositionofmarineandfreshwaterphytoplanktonbyusinginvertedlightmicroscopyandsedimentationchambers,includingtheprecedingstepsofpreservationandstorage.Emphasisisplacedonoptimizingtheprocedureforthepreparationofthemicroscopicsample.Manyofthegeneralprinciplesoftheapproachdescribedmayalsobeappliedtoothertechniquesofenumeratingalgae(orotherentities)usinga(conventional)microscope,someofwhicharedescribedinAnnexE.Thisguidancestandarddoesnotcoverfieldcollectionofsamplesortheanalysisofpicoplankton,quantitativeanalysisoffree-floatingmatsofCyanobacteriaorspecificpreparationtechniquesfordiatoms.
